How do I join the club?
We encourage all interested parents and players to complete an Expression Of Interest (EOI) form. We accept enquiries all year round.
https://aztectigersbasketball.majestri.com.au/expression-of-interest
Please note, this is not a full registration as we can only accept new players if spots are available. This is due to Bendigo Basketball Association rules, which limit the number of teams we can enter in each division. Once an Age Group Coordinator (AGC) confirms there is a space, they will give you a different link to complete a full registration.
How are players selected for teams?
Where possible we try to keep players of similar skill together across seasons and age groups. An exception to this rule is the progression from winter to summer seasons, as some players move up an age group based on their year of birth.
At the end of each season, Age Group Coordinators are prompted for feedback about teams and players. In some cases certain players may be recommended for different divisions, and this will be discussed with parents accordingly.
Players wanting to progress into higher divisions are encouraged to speak to their Coach, as we have many opportunities for players to develop their skills in addition to weekly training sessions.
What are the Age Groups and Nights of Play?
Information on age groups and nights of play can be found on the Bendigo Basketball Association website
tophttps://bendigobasketball.com.au/domestic-basketball/age-groups-nights-of-play/
What are the Season Dates?
Winter season generally runs for school terms 2 & 3, whilst Summer is term 4 & term 1 (of next school year)
topWhere do we practice and train?
We currently utilise multiple venues for our training sessions. Times and venue depend largely on availability. There is limited court space available.
Our main training venues are Bendigo South East College Gym, Victory Christian College Gym, Girton Gym and we do utilise some other training spaces around Bendigo.
Our Committee works really hard to ensure that everybody has a training time slot and venue for 1 hour per week. Whilst we understand that these times may not suit everybody, we do our best to meet your training requests as best we can.
Your Age Group Coorindator will let you know when your training session is prior to the start of the season.
It is expected that all players and coaches attend training where possible.
Where do I find Fixtures & Results?
Winter fixtures are now in Play HQ and can be found at this link.

What rules differ for u8 & u10? (not yet updated in BBA documents)
---- u8 ----
Lowered rings and no defence permitted above the *half
court line* (previously netball third line).
---- u10 ----
Div 1 full height ring (10 feet/3.05m) and full court
defence (normal rules)
Div 2 lowered ring and *full court defence*
Div 3 and below are lowered ring and *half court line defence* (previously netball third line)
** Mercy Rule for u10-u18 **
For Division 2 and below, if a team reaches a score which exceeds the opposing teams score by 20 points or more, they shall not be permitted to play defence above the *half court line* (previously netball third line) until the opposing teams score is within 15 points.
Under 23s & Seniors
If you have played with Aztecs through the junior ranks and have now moved to Under 23s or Seniors Age Groups, you may like to continue playing with Aztecs.
For enquiries about this age group, please contact our Committee at aztecbcb@gmail.com.
What are club fees for?
The majority of your club fee goes straight to the stadium for match fees. We've taken the approach of collecting match fees upfront so that games are paid for by the club, rather than relying on the process of parents paying via Teammo.
A small amount goes to the club, and is used for venue hire for training and equipment where required. The club also has a number of administrative fees that need to be covered each season. Where possible, we look to subsidise other expenses like uniforms.
Please note that our fees do not cover Player's Insurance which must be purchased from the Bendigo Basketball Association via Play HQ annually. We will provide you with a link to organise this insurance after you have registered with Aztecs. If you are not registered in Play HQ and insurance paid, you are not allowed to take the court.
Who are my contact points as a parent/player?
Once you become a member, you will receive regular email updates with relevant club information.
For ongoing questions, we ask that you consult your club contact points in the following order:
1. Coach
2. Team Manager
3. Age Group Coordinator
Depending on the issue, items will be communicated with club committee for discussion by one of the three people above.
When are club fees due to be paid?
Generally all club fees are required to be paid by the end of grading in each season.
We do offer payment plans. If you have any questions regarding fees, please contact our Treasurer.
In the case of fees not being paid by the end of grading, players will be deactivated from the scoring system and will not be able to take the court until their fees are finalised.
Please note that we do have the following policies in place.
